Eygalières is a nice, quiet town located only a few kilometers east of Saint-Remy-de-Provence, with interesting ruins and great views. It is surrounded by picturesque Alpilles hills, olive groves and vine fields. As usual in the case of the villages of Provence, it is situated on top of a small hill.
We park the car in a small parking lot (P1; GPS: 43.759474, 4.949689) nearby the headquarters of local authorities. You can also park at the church (P2; GPS: 43.762134, 4.948909).
After leaving the car we go down the Rue de la République street in the northern direction. We pass by beautiful stone houses, almost always surrounded by greenery and many flowers. We turn to the Rue de la Vieille Eglise and momentarily we are next to some interesting buildings: the church of Saint-Laurent from twelfth century (A; GPS: 43.763844, 4.948691) and the chapel of the White Penitents (Chapelle des Pénitents Blancs) from sixteenth century (B; GPS: 43.763737, 4.949132). Then we climb up the hill to see the castle ruins (C; GPS: 43.763315, 4.949198). As the award we also get great views of surrounding Alpilles.
Being in Eygalières you can also visit the Chapel of Saint-Sixte from twelfth century, located on Route d'Orgon about a kilometer from the east borders of the town (D; GPS: 43.762205, 4.966918).
