This fortress has guarded this place for centuries, and its walls hold tales of battles and bravery. Don’t forget to take a moment to enjoy the breathtaking panorama from the top!
As we descend, let’s wander through the narrow streets of the old town. Notice the traditional Provençal houses with their shutters painted in shades of blue and green. Ahead of us stands the Notre-Dame-des-Pommiers Cathedral (B; GPS: 44.195657, 5.943441). Let’s step inside to experience the calm of this 12th-century Romanesque church. Observe the intricate stonework and the serene atmosphere—it’s the perfect place for a brief respite.
From here, let’s head toward the Rocher de la Baume (C; GPS: 44.199475, 5.947247). Look at this impressive rock formation, which seems to guard the entrance to Sisteron. It’s a natural wonder and a popular climbing spot. Let’s pause nearby to admire the view of the gently flowing Durance River.
