Feldkirchen in Kärnten, Austria

Feldkirchen in Kärnten is a nice town in Austria/Carinthia and also the capital of the district, located near the Ossiach Lake (Ossiacher See) - one of the most beautiful places in Austria. The towns like Klagenfurt, Villach, St. Veit, as well as interesting hiking and excursions places are a maximum of several minutes away. It's simply an ideal base for exploring the area. We stayed here for one night while driving to southern Europe. We simply decided to take a walk around the town.

Parking in Feldkirchen in Kärnten

You can of course visit the town itself. A quite huge parking lot is located near the centre of the town (P; GPS: 46.7224167, 14.0912714). There you can leave the car - just remember that the parking lot is paid.

Strolling the town

Then you can walk to the nearby main square (Hauptplatz) (A; GPS: 46.7236450, 14.0918561). There you can see interesting fountain from 1898 and the St Mary column from the first half of 18th century.

Worth visiting is also the parish church "Maria in Dorn" (B; GPS: 46.7277008, 14.0950264). It is located at the end of the Kirchgasse street. The church was built in 12th century, and rebuilt after Turkish invasion in 15th century. Going from the market square towards the church we pass another interesting fountain (C; GPS: 46.724939, 14.092776), but this time created in a modern style.
