A Walk Through České Budějovice

Welcome to České Budějovice! This city is full of history, flavor, and charm. Let’s begin our adventure by heading first to Náměstí Přemysla Otakara II (A; GPS: 48.97454, 14.47414). It is one of the largest squares in Central Europe, where the harmony of Renaissance and Baroque townhouses impresses us at first glance. In the center of the square stands the Samson Fountain – a symbol of the city’s strength and protection. Let’s also take a look at the town hall (B; GPS: 48.97519, 14.47406) with its three towers and decorative frescoes – it’s one of the most beautiful buildings of its kind in the Czech Republic.


As we continue, we’ll reach the Black Tower (C; GPS: 48.97554, 14.47569), one of the city’s most iconic structures. This 72-meter-high belfry from the 16th century once served as a watchtower, protecting the city from fires. Let’s climb to its top, where an incredible view of České Budějovice and the surrounding area awaits. On a clear day, you can even spot the Alps!
